Chalked Daisies

This is a quick chalk piece is put together. It's made out of mostly chalk and a little bit of charcoal pencil. I really like playing with yellows and blues and mixing up contrasts. Chalk creates a really great consistency and texture, showcasing a thick and gritty aspect and yet also smooth. It's ability to blend is one of my favorite aspects of chalk and charcoal, making it a great medium to play around with and experiment with colors. Here, I used watercolor paper to work on which is thick and durable. For larger pieces I use a setting spray for chalk and charcoal so it doesn't lift as easily of the canvas.
